Initially, the CNLU requested that the matter be heard directly by the Supreme Court. However, on January 15, 2025, Chief Justice Khanna declined this request and instead suggested transferring all petitions to one High Court for efficient disposal.
Final Decision: Petitions Transferred to Delhi High Court
On February 6, 2025, the Supreme Court issued a formal order, transferring all CLAT 2025-related petitions from the following High Courts:
- Karnataka
- Jharkhand
- Rajasthan
- Bombay
- Madhya Pradesh
- Calcutta
- Punjab & Haryana
These petitions are to be clubbed with the ongoing appeal in the Delhi High Court, where the CNLU is challenging the earlier Single Judge decision that found fault in two CLAT-UG questions.
The Division Bench of the Delhi High Court will now hear and decide all the matters together. The Supreme Court directed that records and case files from the other High Courts be transferred to the Delhi HC within seven days of the publication of the order.
